Cirello's beta pricing: free now, what changes later

September 22, 2026 · 2 min read · Cirello

The short version: Cirello's beta is free right now, no card required, and we don't have a final price to tell you because we genuinely haven't set one yet.

That's a less satisfying answer than a number would be. It's also the honest one, and it's worth explaining rather than leaving vague.

Free today, not a trial

There's no trial clock running down, no feature ceiling waiting to lock you out, no "upgrade to continue" screen hiding behind the free version. What's live in the app right now - FSRS-6 scheduling, bulk import, capture from real sources, image cards, the whole current feature list - is what you get by using the beta, at no cost, starting the moment you sign up.

Why there's no price yet

We could pick a number now and call it final, but that would mean deciding on pricing before we've learned enough from actual beta usage to price it well. A number picked too early tends to get walked back later anyway - either raised after people are already relying on a lower price, or discovered to be wrong once real usage patterns show up. We'd rather take the time to get it right than ship a placeholder number and revise it under pressure.

No price exists yet because we haven't decided one - not because we're hiding it.

What's actually planned

Further down the road, Cirello will introduce a subscription. The reasoning is straightforward: building and running this - the app itself, the nightly FSRS-6 retraining, ongoing development - costs real money on an ongoing basis, and a sustainable product needs a way to cover that, long-term, that isn't just goodwill.

What we can commit to now: people using the beta today, before any subscription exists, will get real benefits for having joined this early - specifics aren't locked in yet, but being here now is not going to be worth nothing later.

What this means for you right now

Use Cirello today without giving it a second thought about cost. No payment details, no expiring trial, no catch waiting on the other side of a feature you're already relying on. When pricing is actually decided, we'll say so clearly, the same way we're saying clearly right now that it isn't decided yet.

If you want to know exactly what the free beta includes, what Cirello can and can't do today is the plain list, and the FSRS app page explains the scheduling at its core. For the idea behind it all, start with what spaced repetition is.
